Pia Harris is an Australian / Italian Soprano with dual citizenship. In 2019 Pia will be performing ‘Kate Kelly’ in Lost & Found Opera’s production of the world premiere of Luke Styles’ new work Ned Kelly as part of Perth Festival. Later in the year, Pia will be singing Donna Anna’ in New York Lyric Opera’s production of Don Giovanni and performing ‘Spoletta’ in Freeze Frame Opera’s new production of Tosca directed by renowned director Rachel McDonald. 

Since her training programme with English National Opera, Pia has sung extensively with Opera Holland Park London, New York Lyric Opera and WA Opera, most recently performing ‘Gretel’ in New York Lyric Opera’s Hänsel und Gretel, ‘Chocholka’ in WA Opera’s The Cunning Little Vixen, ‘Donna Anna’ (Cover) in WA Opera’s Don Giovanni and various concerts with WA Opera, including the Path of Hope Foundation Gala Ball together with Tenor Paul O’Neill.

This year Pia performed as the Soprano soloist in the Vocal Performance Initiative’s community project By Other Eyes conducted by Chris van Tuinen and supported by WA Opera commemorating the centenary of Armistice, staged in Bruce Munro’s Field of Light: Avenue of Honour installation on Mt Clarence, Albany. Pia performed as the ‘Whale’ in the Vocal Performance Initiative’s Drift commemorating the 40th anniversary of the closure of Cheynes Beach Whaling Company.

In 2017, Pia performed the role of 'Yvette/Georgette' in Opera Holland Park's production of Puccini's La Rondine and in July, Pia sang 'Mathilde' in Opera Holland Park's concert Regency Rossini at the National Portrait Gallery. In October, Pia sang 'Lauretta' in Opera Holland Park's concert Opera & the Silver Screen in the Elgar Room, Royal Albert Hall. 

In April/May 2016 Pia performed 'Drusilla' in New York Lyric Opera’s Production of L’incoronazione di Poppea at Symphony Space on Broadway and 'Manon' in New York Lyric Opera's Opera Showcase at Carnegie Hall, New York City.

On her return to London, Pia performed in recital to celebrate the Russia and the Arts Exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in association with Opera Holland Park. That summer, Pia performed with Opera Holland Park in Die Fledermaus and La Cenerentola and in October she performed with renowned British Tenor Ben Johnson in A Celebration of British Opera with Opera Holland Park in the Elgar Room, Royal Albert Hall.


Pia worked as part of the Extra Chorus at Opera Australia prior to commencing her studies at the Royal College of Music (RCM) London, where she graduated as the Aldama Scholar, supported by the Bliss Trust Award, of the 2012-2014 Masters of Vocal Performance Programme. In 2015, Pia completed the 2014/2015 English National Opera (ENO) Opera Works Programme and currently works with Professor Yvonne Kenny and vocal coaches Della Jones and Peter Robinson. 

During her studies at RCM, Pia covered Leonie, La Bergère and La Chouette in RCM International Opera School's Productions of La vie Parisienne and L'Enfant et les Sortilèges respectively, was selected to sing Stewardess in RCM's Angels: Celebrating the Music of Jonathan Dove, was awarded highly commended in the RCM Lieder Competition and performed in Stephen Fry's operatic adaptation of Forster's The Life to Come. 

Pia has sung at major venues including Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Symphony Space on Broadway, National Opera Center New York City, Sydney Opera House, St. Paul’s Covent Garden, Sir John Soane Museum, Victoria & Albert Museum and the National Portrait Gallery. Performed roles include; Annina La Traviata (Perth Lyric Opera), Pamina Die Zauberflöte (Perth Lyric Opera), Leonie La vie Parisienne (Cover, RCMIOS), La Bergère/La Chouette L'Enfant et les Sortilèges (Cover, RCMIOS), Emilie Les Indes Galantes (Woodhouse Festival Opera), Countess The Marriage of Figaro (ENO Opera Works), Mimi La Boheme (Midland Opera) Drusilla L'incoronazione di Poppea (New York Lyric Opera), Manon Manon (New York Lyric Opera) Yvette/Georgette La Rondine (Opera Holland Park, London) Gretel Hänsel und Gretel (New York Lyric Opera), Chocholka The Cunning Little Vixen (West Australian Opera), Donna Anna Don Giovanni (Cover, West Australian Opera).

By Other Eyes - Albany, Western Australia 2018 - A snap shot into the premiere performance of By Other Eyes - a new work of choral-theatre performed and broadcast live from inside Bruce Munro's Field of Light: Avenue of Honour installation, Albany, Western Australia commemorating the centenary of Armistice, the end of the First World War. This new work offers a contemporary perspective on what it means to; truly remember. Created in partnership with local Noongar elders and the people of the Great Southern, By Other Eyes provides a visceral insight into our human experience in 2018. Featuring the recorded voices of over 1000 children from across the Great Southern, a live ensemble, soloists from the West Australian Opera, local soloists and a mass choir.
